Great Grandmas!

So, we were up in Erie and Kittanning this past weekend. We visited great-grandparents. And here's the proof.

Happy Birthday, America!

So yesterday at Katherine's daycare they had a parade for the Fourth of July. Most of the older kids worked on projects all week to use. The teachers made each of the kids in the infant room a hat. This was Katherine's.

Happy Fourth of July, everyone. Drink beer, eat hotdogs, blow things up. It's the American Way.

I HAS A BUCKET!

DO NOT TELL THE LOLRUS I HAS A BUCKET!!
Lemme get mai bucket. Is over heer.

And what do we do with the bucket now that we have it? Why, this, of course!

And this is how we play.

Her newest game, other than "Put teh Bucket on Mah Head" is called "Put Random Toys in My Bucket, Walk a Few Steps, Sit Down, Take the Toys Out of My Bucket, Spin Around On My Bum and Repeat." This is an extremely long name for a game so we've asked Katherine to come up with a shorter name or some kind of acronym. The only other names she can come up with are "A gee gee ju gee" and "diggy" which is actually her way of saying "doggy." She has not been helpful.

Happy Memorial Day (and birthday)

It seems as though I had started a birthday post about a month ago (this is actually getting published on 6/30). And it also seems as though I've forgotten about it. Anyway, here's some cake pictures.

No, really. We meant it.

When we said there was no where she couldn't go, we really meant it. Really.

I guess there's only one thing left to do. Wedge her somewhere she can't get out...like her toy bin. Truthfully, she did this to herself. Really. Daddy just made sure he went and got the camera before getting her out.

There's nowhere she can't go

Well. Big advances since the last update (forever ago). It seems we've starting doing more. As you can see, there's no where she can't go.

We've got this new walking toy. Technically she's supposed to ride it, but she enjoys this much much more.

(Hey look! A movie!)

And this was quickly followed by some window looking. And they both say, "Gee, I wonder when Daddy's getting home."

Easter Pictures

I can't believe she is already almost 10 months old! She still has only the 2 bottom middle teeth, but is definitely working on more. She is crawling everywhere and can stand up holding on to things. She started cruising a bit this past weekend (walking holding on to things), so walking should be coming soon! Unfortunately, she does have a nasty cough right now (thanks to me!) but other than that, she is a perfectly happy baby!

Here are some pictures we took of Katherine on Easter Sunday for you to enjoy.

Teeth! The sequel

Two things. First, photographic evidence has been made of the oral invaders. This isn't just some fuzzy shot of some dummy in an ape suit walking through the woods or a blurry log in a lake in Scotland. This is the real deal, people.

SO here you have a laughing Katherine, with a face full of chicken and sweet potatoes and a couple teeth sticking through the bottom. Huzzah! Teeth. I am only mildly disappointed they didn't declare war on the rest of her mouth like Stewie's teeth in Family Guy, but that's OK. A major milestone has come to pass.

Click the picture, it gets bigger...much bigger.

Second thing. A few people have asked - if that was a quiet dinner, what's a normal one sound like? So I present to you Katherine with a biter biscuit. No fancy editing or slick witticisms with this one. Sorry.

Teeth!

OK. A major recon mission is required. But there are two teeth poking through the bottom gums. Right in front! Maybe later tonite we'll have photographic evidence of the intruders. Until then, watch this:

It's been a while...

..Time for an update.

And really there isn't much to update.

Christmas has come and gone.

Grandparents have visited and left

We did go to the zoo!

But now we're pretty much tuckered out and ready for a nap

Oh, and still no teeth.

6 month old check-up

Crazy, busy week for Lady Katherine. She had her 6-month check-up on Wednesday. All is well and so far we haven't had any real fall-out from the vaccinations she got. But here's the important stuff:

Length: 27 inches (95th percentile)
Weight: 17lb 9.2 oz (80th percentile)
Head circumference: 43cm (70th percentile)

No puppy picture today. But here's one of the turtle that was on our porch a couple months ago.
This past weekend was our work's "Holiday Extravaganza." Other than the free hot dogs (of which there are no pictures) the only real thing worth anything was that Santa Claus was there. So...we present to you:

wait for it

Katherine with Santa Claus.

Sorry to all our non-Christian friends. There was no Chanukah Claus or Kwanzaa Claus.

Corel Photo Album 6?

For some reason, in the previous post, if you click on the images to make them larger, web browsers think that the images are all Corel Photo Album 6 files. Uh...whiskey tango foxtrot.

Sounds like I need to do some investigative investigating.

Out taking pictures

So today we decided to pack up and go take a picture for the Christmas cards. Here's our little adventure, documented for you all to see. Hopefully within the next few weeks you'll all receive a pretty little card and think, "Hey, this looks vaguely familiar. Yet somehow...different..."

Here's dad getting Katherine ready for her photo shoot. Only 6 months old and already a diva, demanding hands on attention.

Someone is obviously thrilled to be here. Smiles were hard to come by, but they eventually showed up.

GET OUT OF MY PARK!

Almost a smile. Not quite there, but close.

Dad's two favorite girls getting ready to leave.

Sick Baby

A near-5-month old with a head cold is not fun. Congestion, fever, fussiness and no sleep.

Below we see a picture of Katherine in the Halloween hat her Grandma Roberts gave her. Too cute.

There will be no random puppy picture today. :(

Rice Cereal!

This was supposed to be up yesterday. But I was distracted by shiny things. And pizza.

Katherine had her 4-month check-up on Wednesday. She's currently 15lb 10oz (95th percentile), 26 inches (off the chart) and 16.4 inches on the size of her noggin (65th percentile). So, because she's ahead of the curve, Dr. Witte says we can start her on rice cereal. Word. This should be fun.

So here we are, in the chair, ready for something to eat, not really sure what's going on. This encounter with the chair was much better than earlier in the week where we just tried to "get her used to it." It did not go well. This time was much better.

So here's Mom's second shovel of rice cereal (Dad was too slow on the camera and missed the first). You can see this is going swimmingly.

Oh, and who calls that stuff "cereal". It's more like "slightly less thick formula." I was thinking we'd be giving her some oatmeal or something good like that, not liquidy paste.

Random puppy picture!
And, yes, he's just laying there thinking "What have I gotten myself into!?!?"

After a few tries, Mom has given up. Back to the bottle.

And back to the couch. A valiant first effort, but unsuccessful. We'll try again tomorrow.

Here's what not to do

I'm really just posting this to get in trouble. This was a few days ago, both Mom and Baby are pooped out. And Dad was left alone with the camera. Mwahahaha!

New Pictures!

OK. We have a few pictures for an update. The first one is right before Clemson went and destroyed Florida State. Our little girl shows her true colors in her Baby Tiger onesie. Now if I can just keep her mother from buying that Gator stuff for her we'll all be OK.

Aaah! Random puppy picture! Yay Checkers!

These last two were taken today. Katherine is finally to the point where she can hold her head steady enough to be turned around in the front carry pack. We think she likes facing this way a whole lot better than the other, although she did tend to sleep better when facing Mommy. The last one really shows how big she's starting to get. She was in the doctor's office the other day (diarrhea, yay!) and weighed in at 15lb, 9oz. She didn't have her length measured, but as you can see from the long view, she's getting pretty tall, too!

First Blog Post

Hi all! Jason and Becky are creating this blog to keep family & friends up to date with what is going on in our lives. As you all may know, our biggest news is that we had a little baby girl, Katherine Elizabeth, on June 5th of this year. She is now almost 4 months old! Becky has been back to work since the beginning of September, so Katherine is enjoying her weekdays in day care. Checkers (our dog) is tolerating Katherine pretty well. He does get jealous at times, but he plays nice with her giving her kisses now and then.

Here is a picture of Katherine from 8/19. We'll get some more recent pictures of her on here real soon.
